SGD WINS BEST ASIAN/MIDDLE EASTERN FILM AWARD IN TOKYO!!!

We're still reeling from the news: Singapore Dreaming just became the first ever Singaporean film to win the Best Asian/Middle Eastern Film Award at the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival!

As Yen Yen and Colin had to be in Washington DC where the film is the closing film of the US Asean Festival, they could not attend the awards ceremony.

Thankfully, Alice Lim (who plays 'Ma')'s daughter Leng Yeng is stationed in Tokyo and could represent us. (That's her above. She's so glam, she should represent us at every awards ceremony!)

Winning at Tokyo is a huuuuge deal for us, and we're deeply honoured and grateful. Thank you, Tokyo jury! Thank you, TIFF! Thank you, audiences! Thank you, investors, actors, crew, distributors, sales agent and everyone who helped make our dream come true!

Great Premiere in Taiwan!

We had a great full-house premiere in Taipei, as the closing film of the Women Make Waves Film Festival, ahead of our commercial run on November 9 in Taipei and Kaohsiung!

Our star Yeo Yann Yann (also of '881' fame) also flew in to add some glamour to the screening and was mobbed for autographs for an hour!

Singapore singing superstar Tanya Chua also very kindly came to say some nice words about the film and share some Singaporean pride. Everyone, please go and buy her great new album "Hello and Goodbye"!

More great reviews from the Taiwanese press here If you have friends in Taiwan, please tell them to support our little film!

Great Review in Taiwan for SGD!

Here's a really great review for Singapore Dreaming by a Taiwanese critic: Click here

Full disclosure: We had to phone our fabulous actress Yeo Yann Yann (fresh from her star turn in '881') to help us with some translation... we really need to beef up our Mandarin before we head to Taiwan for our opening there! (See post below)

Singapore Dreaming in Tokyo

Hot on the heels of our win at the Asian American International Film Fest, we're very happy to announce that Singapore Dreaming has been invited to compete in the Tokyo International Film Festival 2007 for the Best Asian/Middle Eastern Film Award. Naturally, this is a huge deal for us. Yasujiro Ozu's 'Tokyo Story' was a massive influence on Singapore Dreaming and we're delighted to be able to screen in the master's own city. And we can't wait to be sushi-snarfing in Tsukiji!

Wah Lau Eh! We Won Again!

We're right now over the moon - we just found out that Singapore Dreaming won the Audience Award for Narrative Feature at the 30th Asian American International Film Festival!

Thank you to everyone who voted for us! We're really honoured, especially as the competition this year was so strong.

We really regret we weren't able to make it to the awards ceremony (long story, lah! Argh!) but thank you to everyone once again!

THANK YOU, NYC!

A biiiig, wet and sloppy kiss from us to everyone who came for our New York premiere of Singapore Dreaming yesterday at the Asia Society.

We were very thrilled by the full house, and so was the Asian American International Film Festival - one of our favourite fests in the entire world. Pictures of the premiere to come! Thanks also for all of you who came to speak to us after the screening.

So what’s next for SGD? Well, for Singaporeans and friends of Singapore in the D.C. area, the film has been invited to have a special screening at the Smithsonian in October. So watch for more news…

And the biggest news of all… Singapore Dreaming will be having a commercial release in Taiwan! So Singaporeans in Taiwan, see you soon! More news as this unfolds.

Singapore Dreaming in San Francisco!

Hey, we're really looking forward to meeting you at the SFIFF - we're the only Singapore film in the fest, and we're also one of SanFranciscoChinatown.com's Picks! Please tell your friends! Click on the image above for screening details and to buy tickets!

CONGRATS, YANN YANN!
